EArtH Foundation’s operating model is unique and distinct. it has been established to help underprivileged Indian children in villages who do not receive a stable and high-quality educational experience. Poorly managed government schools often lack proper infrastructure, resources, teachers and personnel and these are principal reasons for this outcome. Additionally, parents of these children often work as daily labor and need to move from village to village frequently to find gainful employment. This leads to missed classes, poor attendance and an overall disruption in the education received by these children.

Our focus is to raise the level of quantitative and qualitative education for children while simultaneously addressing the root causes of illiteracy in the villages that we adopt. A major focus in our efforts is the development of skills and values as well as personality development. EArtH designed Personality Development Curriculum that is expected to be followed in every adopted village. We focus on the long-term, to ensure that villages we adopt follow a sustainable model to benefit current as well as future generations. This is only possible by securing a buy-in from children, parents and village elders in the villages we work with.

Once success at the village level is achieved, we engage in a continuous cycle of monitoring and feedback to ensure that the momentum achieved is maintained over an extended period of time.  We then move onto the next village, in order to replicate our efforts and achieve success once again. While we understand that no two villages are the same, the general process that we follow for our working organization model is as follows:

Before adopting a village

1. Identify a set of potential villages to adopt that will benefit the most from our work and effort.
2. Conduct household surveys to determine the baseline situation in the villages.
3. Select the best suited village that meets all necessary criteria and then adopt it.
4. Identify and hire ‘Vidya Volunteers’ from within the village.

While adopting a village

5. Train selected volunteers with respect to what is expected, how to achieve our mission and obtain a pledge of commitment.
6. Distribute needed resources such as books, reading material, game and sports kits, and other useful equipment to each center.
7. Encourage and observe student class participation and engagement in extra-curricular and personality development activities.
8. Spread awareness amongst village communities comprised of children, parents and other key stakeholders.
9. Strengthen the management committees of government primary and high schools we work with.

After adopting a village

10. Perform an end-line household survey to measure the difference between the end-line and the baseline.
11. Determine if results are satisfactory for an extended duration of time in order to put the village under a monitoring phase.
12. Formulate a hand-over committee within each village to before moving onto the next village to ensure monitor and maintain the standards we set up.
13. Move on to adopting the next village that we believe will benefit the most from our endeavors.
