Bonalu Festival

Every year, the EArtH Foundation enthusiastically celebrates Bonalu, a vibrant traditional festival from Telangana, which takes place annually in July. In the lead-up to the festival, students and teachers immerse themselves in a variety of cultural activities to honor this significant occasion. Students showcase their talents through lively dance performances, which reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region. These dances are often accompanied by traditional music, adding to the festive atmosphere. Participants don traditional dresses, including colorful sarees and dhotis, enhancing the authenticity of the celebration and allowing students to experience the festival’s cultural essence. Students participate in the symbolic act of carrying the “Bonam,” a ceremonial offering, on their heads. This act symbolizes devotion and reverence towards the goddess, and it is an integral part of the festival. Some students take on the role of Potharaju, the guardian of the goddess, and reenact traditional rituals. These performances help bring the festival’s customs to life and provide a deeper understanding of its significance. The festival often includes symbolic sacrifices, represented by offerings such as chickens and goats. These offerings are part of the traditional observances and are made with respect and devotion. Planting Trees

Plants were procured from Kauslabad Gram Panchayat and planted at MPPS Kauslabad School as part of a dedicated environmental initiative. Both teachers and students took an active role in the tree-planting activities, contributing to the school’s green transformation. By participating in hands-on environmental activities, students gain practical knowledge about plant biology, ecology, and the importance of green spaces. The initiative helps instill a deep sense of environmental responsibility and awareness, encouraging students to become proactive in protecting and preserving nature. Engaging in such activities fosters a sense of community and collective effort, demonstrating the impact that local actions can have on broader environmental goals. Maharastra Activities

Dance

At our school, dance is a vital part of the cultural education we offer, facilitated by a dedicated dance master. Recognizing that pre-primary students have limited attention spans, we structure their lessons with breaks to allow for naps, snacks, and occasional games. This approach ensures that they remain engaged and refreshed.

In an era where cultural traditions are increasingly overlooked, our team is committed to preserving and passing on these important cultural practices. By integrating traditional dance into our curriculum, we help students connect with their heritage and maintain a link to their roots, enriching their educational experience and cultural awareness.

Yoga

At our adopted schools, we prioritize students’ mental well-being and overall health by incorporating yoga into their curriculum. We have a skilled PET master who guides students through various yoga asanas and meditation practices. Yoga’s emphasis on breathing and mindfulness is central to these sessions.

We start with fundamental asanas and gradually increase the complexity each week. To prepare students for these yoga classes, we first introduce and practice basic warm-ups. This foundational preparation helps students ease into the more advanced yoga routines, ensuring they build both physical and mental strength effectively.

Ashadi Ekadashi

Ashadhi Ekadashi is a significant festival that brings the spotlight to Pandharpur. Among the 24 Ekadashis observed throughout the year, this particular Ekadashi holds special importance. On this day, it is believed that the divine light of all deities converges. The festival’s history and its connection to the Pandharpur Vari highlight its deep spiritual significance.

The Ashadhi Ekadashi fast is considered unique because it symbolizes the unification of all deities. Pandharpur, believed to have existed before Vaikunthabhoomi, is regarded as one of the most ancient pilgrimage sites on earth, underscoring its profound significance in spiritual traditions.

During this festival, boys and girls dress up as Lord Vitthal, adorning themselves with traditional attire such as sovals, crowns, and ornaments. Little girls particularly shine in their costumes, which include Nauvari sarees or Parkar Polka, small Tulsi-Brindavans, and traditional jewelry. Their attire beautifully reflects the cultural and spiritual essence of the celebration.

Lezin Practice

Lezin is a dynamic routine commonly practiced in our EArtH-adopted schools. More than just a dance, it serves as a rigorous fitness drill that combines physical exercise with precise movements. Children practice Lezin in various formations, such as pairs, groups of four, and even in circles, making it both engaging and beneficial for their fitness.
